Client Rights

Each client is entitled to basic human rights. These rights include, but are not limited to the:

  • Right to life
  • Right to access educational opportunities and health care resources
  • Right to own and dispose of property
  • Right to freedom of association
  • Right to vote
  • Right to liberty and pursuit of happiness
  • Right to consent or to refuse treatment
  • Right to express sexuality
  • Right to marry and have children
  • Right to be treated with dignity and respect
  • Right to have the capacity for growth and development
  • Right to a retirement lifestyle
  • Right to end of life planning
Each client shall have the benefit of programs and supports which strengthen family values and relationships within the context and ability of ACL-BB resources. ACL-BB assists and supports people who have developmental disabilities or who face barriers to employment to articulate and realize their rights and aspirations by living the life that they choose. ACL-BB accomplishes this by providing services to clients such as life skills, residential, educational, and employment services, planning and advocacy. Clients may choose to access any or all of these services.
